THE TIME TO BE SILENT IS OVER. Alzheimer’s Disease is growing faster than ever. Frighteningly enough, there is currently no cure for this disease, which takes a huge toll on both the patient and the patient’s loved ones. The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading organization offering voluntary support. The Association’s mission is to eliminate the disease through the advancement of research, provide and enhance care for all affected, and reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Tricon Cares is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association with the goal of fundraising $500,000 over the next 3 years. In an effort to achieve this, Tricon employees will be running and providing volunteer support for 6 marathons in the 6 cities where we have the largest presence. There is a single cause - to find a cure for Alzheimer's. The first marathon was this past April 2019 in Zurich, Switzerland. We will finish strong in January 2021 in the city where Tricon was founded and is presently headquartered: Houston, Texas. Between the Zurich and Houston races, we will take part in marathons in Istanbul, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, and Shanghai.
Running these 6 marathons, and the money we raise, is our humble way of contributing to valuable research, which we hope will someday eradicate the disease. In the meantime, we strive to help provide much-needed funds to ensure those affected by Alzheimer’s can live their best lives.
Today, Tricon is reaching out to seek your support with our fundraising efforts. Our participants are running for a worthy cause. No donation is too large or too small. Nevertheless, we ask you to dig deep and donate generously to help us achieve our goal. The more funds we are able to raise, the quicker we hope a cure will be found.
As mentioned, the first marathon was recently completed in April in Zurich. We had 11 participants, and while the weather did not cooperate, the runners and volunteers did not let it deter them from accomplishing their mission. Several Tricon employees finished the race and, more importantly, raised approximately $136,000 USD - 27% of our target $500,000! We view this as a fantastic achievement for the first race, setting the bar very high for the other 5 marathons, all thanks to the help and generosity of our partners and colleagues.
The success and achievements of the Zurich Marathon serve as proof that we work in a terrific and supportive industry where, besides the products we trade or business we conduct with one another, we are also united by our duty to better the world. There is so much joy in knowing that every stone we lay, regardless of how big or small, is a crucial milestone towards improving the lives of those around us as well as future generations. Thanks again to all our supporters in this mission thus far.
However, we have not yet crossed that final finish line! The Istanbul Marathon is the next race on the horizon in November 2019. We are represented by several runners based in our Istanbul office. The runners have all been training hard for this amazing cause so please support them as best you can.
